MOVE Equal Opportunities Police (Issue 1) 1 Introduction
MOVE acknowledges that the community in which it operates is diverse in race, culture, beliefs and lifestyles. MOVE aims to ensure that no service user, employee, volunteer, visitor or caller to
MOVE's premises is discriminated against and that no person should experience discrimination based upon:
- Age
- Gender
- Race
- Language
- HIV/AIDS status
- Sexuality or sexual orientation
- Employment status
- Religious belief.
- Disability
- National or ethnic origin
- Marital status
- Responsibility for dependants
- Trade Union activity
MOVE also intends that no person should be discriminated against on any unjustifiable grounds. 2 Service Provision
MOVE will strive not to discriminate against any individuals or groups of individuals in the provision of it's services. Services will be provided in a way that recognises the rights and needs
of people from minority and/or disadvantaged groups. Move will ensure that all groups have access to it's services, within the boundaries of MOVE's ability to provide services. People from
disadvantaged groups will be encouraged to participate at every level of MOVE's organisation, including senior management and trust positions. 3 Accessibility and Membership
MOVE will try to ensure that those who are in it's employ or who are volunteers, will be aware of oppression and inequality and the problems these factors create for our operation, both directly
with our service users and in our work in the community as a whole.MOVE considers that a criterion of membership of the organisation is that members agree to
accept the organisation's Equal Opportunities Policy. 4 Employment
MOVE will work to ensure that no job applicant or employee will be disadvantaged by conditions or requirements that are not justifiable in terms of their application or employment.
Selection requirements and procedures will be regularly reviewed to ensure that individuals are selected and promoted on the basis of their relevant abilities and qualifications. The terms and
conditions of employment, recruitment and disciplinary procedures will reflect this objective. 5 Information
MOVE recognises the need for information about it's operations to be distributed in a variety of formats to ensure that those with visual impairments, learning difficulties etc., as well as those
who do not use English as their main language, can have access to such information.MOVE will strive to provide information in whatever format is appropriate for individual service
users, employees and volunteers. 6 Monitoring
In order to ensure that these policies are adhered to and adjusted as changing circumstances require, MOVE will regularly monitor the implementation and effectiveness of it's Equal
Opportunities policies and practices and will up - date and up - grade them as necessary. 7 Individual Responsibility
MOVE recognises that it is the responsibility of all the members of the Trust, managers, employees and volunteers to ensure that these policies are adhered to and acted upon. Any
discriminatory action by any Trustee, manager, employee or volunteer will be addressed and dealt with under MOVE's disciplinary codes and practices. |
